Lehtiä, lankaa ja kommentteja - Magazines, yarn and comments

Ostin tällaisen kasan alpakkaa jo vuosi sitten tarkoituksena tehdä pusero. Mielessä oli summittainen malli, mutta ei vain ole ollut aikaa ruveta miettimään puseroa tarkemmin. Plarasinpa sitten huvikseni vanhoja lehtikasoja ja sieltä pongahti esiin pari mielenkiintoista mallia. Toisessa oli jopa "oikea" väri ja toinen oli muuten vain aikalailla sellainen kuin olin ajatellut. Kuvat ovat taas kerran surkeita, mutta ehkäpä näistä saa jonkinlaisen käsityksen.

Minulla tosiaan on varastossa vanhoja lehtiä vaikka nykyään en lehtiä ostelekaan, kun en kuitenkaan tee niistä mitään. Nämäkin mallit olivat painuneet unhoon, vaikka muistan ihailleeni kietaisumallia jo silloin aikoinaan.

I bought this kind of pile of alpaca already a year ago with the intention of knitting a sweater. I had an approximate vision of what I wanted, but never just got the time to do anything about it. I went through a pile of old magazines the other week and a couple of interesting models popped out. One of them even had the "right" colour and the other was quite similar to the vision I had originally. The pictures are lousy once more, but I hope you get some sort of idea anyhow.

I do happen to have a stash of old magazines, although I do not buy any currently, because I will not use them anyway. I had also completely forgotten these models, although I remember having admired the turquoise one already when I first saw it.

Kommentit näyttävät olleen pinnalla viime aikoina. Jo aiemman postaukseni palaute teki selväksi, että en ole ainoa, joka kaipaa kommentteja ja vuorovaikutusta. Laitan sen nyt tähän, kun olen törmäillyt siihen niin monessa paikassa, vaikka ensin ajattelin antaa olla. Pelkään, että ihmiset saavat kommenttiyliannostuksen, joten ei tarvitse kommentoida vaikka jäisikin kiinni. Kommentit ovat toki tervetulleita nyt kuten aina, mutta jos jo alkaa kyllästyttää, voit rauhassa hyppiä tämän yli.

It seems like lately people have been quite keen on comments. Already the comments I got to my earlier posting made it clear that I am not the only one who likes comments and interaction. This is witnessed by the comment campaign started by Krista in Toimunpipo as well as the current comment meme. I'll repeat the meme here, because I have been bumping into it so often, although I first thought I'd skip it. I'm afraid people are getting an overdose of comments, so feel free not to comment anything, although you get caught. Comments are, of course, welcome now as always, but if you feel fed up, feel free to skip this one.

Mitä ihmettä?! - What on earth?!

Mikä ihme tämä on? Typistetty poncho? Hovinarrin kaulus? Vastaus kuuluu, että vähän kumpaakin mutta ei ihan kumpaakaan. Tämä on nimittäin kauluri. Ponchoa tehdessäni kauluksen pehmeys sai minut ajattelemaan, että olisipa kiva jos olisi ulkonakin lämmittämässä jotain tällaista. Joten siis punainen Aino esiin ja kutomaan putkea 50 silmukalla. Kudoin reilusti pidemmäksi kuin ponchon kauluksen ja tein reunaan koristeeksi pari kierrosta virkattuja lenkkejä ponchon tapaan ja vielä lopuksi painoksi melko lyhyet ja harvahkot hapsut. En halua hapsujen lentelevän ja tarttuvan joka paikkaan. Tosin tämä saa olla viimeinen kerta kun teen Ainosta jotain hapsullista. Tämä lanka saa minut toivomaan, että voisin ottaa tulitikun esiin ja polttaa langanpäät kiinni. Muutoin kyllä tykkään Ainosta. Putkea oli ilo kutoa, kun jäljestä tulee niin sileää, pehmeää ja lämmintä. Tätä kauluria voisi muuten käyttää sisälläkin, jos haluaa pitää talvella puseroa, jossa on laaja kaula-aukko ja silti pysyä lämpimänä.

Luulin muuten olevani ainoa, joka on voinut saada ajatuksen typistää poncho, mutta ei mitään uutta auringon alla. Huomasin nimittäin, että Krista oli myöskin saanut päähänsä tehdä kaulurin ponchon mallia mukaillen. Haluan kuitenkin huomauttaa, että minä tein omani jo tammikuun lopulla, pian ponchon jälkeen, mutta Krista vasta helmikuussa, joten periaatteessa olen se alkuperäinen, vaikka en ehtinytkään esittelemään tuotostani ensin. :) Ehkä idea ei sitten olekaan niin outo, kun useampi on saanut saman ajatuksen.

What on earth is this? A trunkated poncho? Court jester's collar? The answer is bit of both but still neither of them. It's a neck warmer. While making the poncho I started thinking that it would be nice to have something so soft under the coat to keep me warm. So I dug out red Aino and started to knit a tube with 50 stiches. I made this much longer than the collar of the poncho and added a few rounds of crocheting and some much shorter and thinner fringes than in the poncho. I don't want the fringes to get all over. However, this has to be the last time I will ever make fringes out of Aino. This yarn really makes me wish I could just take a match and burn the ends. Otherwise I really do like Aino. It was a pleasure to knit the tube, it becomes so smooth and soft and warm. You could also wear this thing inside the house, if you have an open-necked blouse but wish to keep warm during the winter.

I actually thought I was the only one with the idea to knit a trunkated poncho, but there is seemingly nothing new under the sun. I recently noticed that also Krista had gotten a similar idea. However, I must notify that I made my thing already in late January, right after the poncho whereas Krista made her version only in February. Thus in principle I am the original although I did not manage to present my product first. :) Perhaps the idea is not so strange after all since someone else thought of the same.

Suoraa saumaa - Straight lines

Tämä Ikean kangas on aivan ihanaa. Olisi tehnyt mieli ostaa sitä kilometrikaupalla, mutta tyydyin näin aluksi ostamaan sen verran, että sain ommeltua makuuhuoneeseen verhot.

I just love this Ikea fabric. I felt like buying tons of it, but I settled with buying enough to sew curtains for the bedroom.

Jäännöspalasta tuli vielä pienet tyynyt näiden keltaisten kaveriksi.

There was enough leftovers to make small cushions to go with these yellow ones.

Samaa sarjaa kankaan kanssa on tämä jo aiemmin ostamani oranssi pöytäliina, joka valitattavasti näkyy vähän huonosti tässä "hieman" vuodenaikaan sopimattomassa kuvassa.

This somewhat lousy picture that is a bit off season shows a matching orange table cloth that I already bought earlier.

Ihana on myös uusi pellavainen punaruskea kangas nimeltä Ikea PS Gribby. Sen pallukat muistuttavat yhtä ihanaa Marimekon kangasta (Fokus).

I also love the reddish brownish linen fabric called Ikea PS Gribby. The circles in it remind me of a Marimekko fabric (Fokus) that I also love.

Ikeassa on muuten myös halpaa (1 €) puuvillaista ompelulankaa todella monen värisenä. Olen niitä ostellut varastoon ja nyt pitäisi löytyä sopiva väri melkein joka ompelukseen.

BTW, Ikeas has cheap (1 €) cotton thread in really many colours. I have been buying them and I think I can find a matching colour with just about any fabric.
